About Me!
This is Jay. I have started this site with my college/school nick name Jiltin – mainly this is the shortest domain I have got. Many years, I have developed plenty of reusable codes ranging from simple code to complex applications in various programming languages Oracle sql, plsql, c++, c, c#, MYSQL, php, java script & java etc. However, I did not expose them to public until recently.
My friend, Ben, at Fujitsu Computers taught me how to assemble my own desktops. This is the starting point during year 2000! At one stage, I wanted to learn new version of oracle applications. The windows version of 11.5.5 was not stable. No offense! Oracle never gets along with Microsoft!! I tried Intel version of Solaris, but it is not supported by oracle applications! Hence, I started Redhat Linux installations. Though oracle applications support RHEL, I mastered the art of installing the 11i with Redhat 9 versions compiling extra packages, RPMs.
During 1984, I started learning C language and COBOL language with VMS Operating system. Later 2003, I was working in HP/USA for six months re-engineering Sybase OCI – UNIX-C code to Oracle – OCI Unix code. It was very interesting project called “Follow the sun” support related package using OCI, UNIX & C language. I happened to recollect my C coding talents used 20 years before.
While working in HP on UNIX-C, I have mastered the oracle OCI code. After HP Project and while consulting with Cisco, I shared my thoughts with my friend Ram and he encouraged me to write an application software like TOAD. Hence, I bought Visual Studio 2003 and wrote my own Lightsql using Visual C++. This is similar to now TOAD, SQL Developer or kind of it. It was my two years development efforts and shared the source code in this blog. In fact, my part-time Graduate student life at USA helped me to get Visual Studio 2003 & 2005 at a cheaper cost. At that time, I was the top user of MSDN!
After I bought Visual Studio 2005, I released few other packaged applications like Credit Card Verifier, Mortgage Calculator, Math 20 and Math 15. Some interesting facts about my Math. Applications: It was developed to improve the Mathematics table Memorizing (Rote!) effort for my son. I used to ask him to take the 50 scores every time he practiced. He has continuously followed it for three years and I noticed great improvement in his scores. Believe it or not, he got First Rank in his 9th grade!
Later I became mentor to many new comers and try to share my experience. At this time, I find it difficult to recollect all my years of experience. Luckily, I backed up last 12 years code in CDs and DVDs. On a review, I had developed many small example codes over the years which are very useful for learners. Over these years, I mastered the UNIX, Linux systems and open source software.
Over the years, I have installed Clarify applications, Siebel applications, Equity edge applications, and oracle applications either at windows or Linux systems for my company. Later, I would have installed more than 50 times Oracle applications alone for me and my friends. All the installations are mainly based on oracle database! I became self styled UNIX administrator, database administrator and applications administrator. At work, I am associated with many projects and interface initiatives ranging from 6-12 months projects, program management. Whatever may be the project, I still develop many small packages and applications to ease my management skills and to control tasks.
Initially, I used PHPBB, then Mambo, and finally Wordpress blog. I am expert on all of these installations, but admire Wordpress for its ease of installation, data – migration, flexibility and plenty of add-on plug-ins! My daily visitors increased exponentially and increasing hits 500+ as of date. Over two years, the visitors are steadily increasing and daily hits are exponentially increasing. It is mainly due to the quality, availability and response times of my servers. I am planning to add more examples daily and trying to create open source software for financial management. If you have php skill set and have strong inclination to code php with MYSQL, to develop financial applications like Order Management, pricing, Customer Management, Accounts receivables, and General Ledger, feel free to contact me at admin@notesbit.com.
Here, I share my experience with the internet community and everything is free for you and others. All I request, in turn, is to provide your feedback to every post, ask me questions and link the pages to your favorites systems.
